John Kevin Timlin,
Mahopac, NY and formerly of Knocknalower, Barnatra, Ballina, Co. Mayo - passed away peacefully at his home in New York surrounded by his loving family on December 26, 2022; 62 years young.
He was born on January 23, 1960 in Knocknalower, County Mayo, Ireland; son of Johnny (deceased in 2018) and Nancy (neé Noone) Timlin.
John emigrated to New York in 1981 following his marriage to his beloved wife, Geraldine (nee Moran). He welcomed the birth of his devoted only child Cathy in May 1982 and he always said he couldn’t have hand-picked a better son when she married Kevin in 2010.
He worked as a carpenter, (Local 608) for 19 years. He moved his family to Mahopac, New York in 1992. John formed his business Westpoint Construction in 2000.
Everyone lucky enough to know John felt his enormous generosity and love of family and friends. He was happiest planting and tending his garden, hunting, fishing and wishing his beloved Mayo to an All Ireland victory that he unfortunately will not get to experience.
He was renowned for throwing the best barbecues and parties that we all planned our vacations around and everyone was welcomed with open arms.
The last ten years of his life was totally revolved around the birth and enjoyment of his three precious grandchildren Nola, Jack and Owen, who could always count on their “Papa” for late night snacks and ice cream on-demand.
John is survived by his wife and soul mate Geraldine, daughter Cathy, son-in-law Kevin, grandchildren Nola, Jack, and Owen, his mother Nancy, sisters Bernadette, Annette, Eileen and Karen, his brothers David and Patrick and aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
