Deepest sympathy to Fiona and All the Family on the sad passing of Robert, may he rest in Peace
Met Robert in the Castlebar Technical School, he had a wide interest in all activities within the school.
The Ford standard tractor in the metal work classroom commanded a great interest and the big question was could it be started, with no fuel tank no magneto and no radiator. i suggested the missing items could be provided from my home.
Lunch time next day it was all hands on deck magneto and small container of petrol connect to the carburettor .
Serious twisting took place and it suddenly started up, with smoke filling the classroom very quickly ,we switched off the tractor took the units out opened the windows and disappeared the mechanics were never found out.
Robert would be impressed having this day remembered. May he rest in Peace.
