Seamus Swift,

Gallows Hill, Castlebar (11th February 2022), retired maintenance staff of Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar, peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Mayo Hospice.

Predeceased by his wife Kay, his parents James and Nora and sisters Mary and Nodie.

Deeply regretted by his loving wife Mary, sons Michael, Thomás, Kevin, Declan and James, daughter Miriam (New Zealand), daughters-in-law Ann, Ruth, Doris and Audrey, son-in-law Glen, grandchildren James, Lughaidh, Diarmuid, Kate, Charlie, Cillian, Liam, Vivienne, Anouk and Aran, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends.

Rest in Peace Seamus.

Remains reposing at Coady’s Funeral Home this Sunday from 4pm to 6pm, with removal to his residence afterwards.

Removal from his residence on Monday at 11am for Funeral Mass at 11.30am in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Seamus will be laid to rest afterwards in Castlebar Old Cemetery.

Please adhere to the current Covid-19 guidelines including social distancing, wearing of face masks and no hand shaking. The family would like to thank you for your cooperation and consideration at this difficult time.

The last time I met him was at The Bridge St Pub in October. God knows, we went back a long way, to starting school together in infants class in the early 1940s. I am so sad.to hear of your dear Seamus' death.I worked in Mayo General hospital and l met Sramus most days, because some part of the machinery was always from the autoclaves in Theatres or Labour Ward to the most minute computerised machine,Seamus could fix them all and he did. And it was always service with a smile and a witty comment..And that service was delivered day and night. We will never find or meet a man of his knowledge of so many and varied subjects. Everybody wanted him on fheir Quiz Team. Lord have mercy on you Seamus. You were simply the nicest huma being it was a privilege to know you. God comfort all of you who mourn him.
