Nancy Gibbons nee Burke,

Cregganroe, Kilsallagh, Westport, Co. Mayo (October 2nd 2022) - peacefully following a brief illness at Mayo University Hospital.

Pre-deceased by her loving husband Thomas and her daughter Evelyn.

Deeply mourned and sadly missed by her loving sons John (Louisburgh), James (Gurteen), Patrick (Portlaoise), Michael (Athenry), Thomas (Rathoath) and Martin (Cregganroe), daughters Mary Gavin (Westport), Ann Moran (Kilmeena), Nora Prendergast (Louisburgh) and Claire Moran (Newport), her twenty six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, brothers Paddy & Walter, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

May Her Gentle and Kind Soul Rest In Peace.

Reposing at Sweeney's Funeral Home, Louisburgh on Tuesday evening from 6 o'clock with removal at 8 o'clock to St. Patrick's Church, Louisburgh.

Mass on Wednesday at 12 noon with burial afterwards in Kilgeever Cemetery.

House private please.

Today we said farewell to our beloved Nancy...Another stalwart of Feile Chois Cuain has sadly left us....All I have left now are snapshots from happier times when we were all together..Snapshots especially of Slan Abhaile sessions in Joe McNamaras... Joe has a warm handshake for me as I head towards the bar. Paddy Gorham is slouched over his red paolo soprani eyes closed, lost in reels..Fiddle flute and bodhran lure the music lovers in...Nancy is to the fore at a table close by...shush becomes the order of the day and a gradual silence envelopes the pub...Nancy stands up and then shes away...." The water is wide, I cant swim oer and neither have I the wings to fly" etc...She swings around and looks at me ...I give her the thumbs up signal of approval...We are all caught up in the magic of the moment... Nancy a fond farewell...Slan ambhaile...Your pleasant face and unique songs will linger with us forever....May the light of Heaven replace the storm clouds over Cregganroe
