Fr Peter Waldron, PE,

Keelogues Parish, Ballyvary, Co Mayo (1st July) - in the Mayo University Hospital.

Deeply mourned by his brother Fr Kieran, his nephews and nieces, his loyal secretary and friend Kathleen Kelly, Archbishop Michael Neary and his brother priests, parishioners, and many friends. Private Funeral Mass reserved for family in St Joseph’s Church, Keelogues, Ballyvary on Saturday, 4th July at 1pm with burial afterwards in the Church grounds.

Peter from my time as a youngster at the end of national school and through much of my secondary education. During that time he left a very strong and positive impression on me of a man who was both sharp-witted and wise, worldly and progressively minded but with the ability to bring things down to a local or immediate level when needed. For me, he was a very fair and kind man who would stand his ground if required but, being considerate, had the strength to flexibility accommodate the opinions of others. But my lasting impressions of him are his warm friendliness, his brilliant positive energy, his infectious curiosity with the world, his love of singing and his wonderful sense of humour....usually signalled by a certain sparkle in his eye which I can still picture very clearly. I feel very lucky to have known him.
