Chris Barrett has become the fifth Mayo footballer in recent weeks to retire from inter-county football.
The Belmullet defender started last month's All Ireland final defeat to Dublin.
Barrett won seven Connacht titles and an Allianz National League in his twelve years on the panel.
The 33-year old was today nominated for an All-Star, alongside eleven of his Mayo teammates.
Paying tribute to his former Mayo & Belmullet team mate Billy Joe Padden says Chrissy's announcement today will come as a surprise to many as he has been playing so well in recent years.
