A Status Yellow Gale Warning will come into effect from 9:00pm tonight.
The Marine Warning has been issued from Valentia to Malin Head to Carnsore Point, and on the Irish Sea by Met Éireann.
A warning of a similar description swept across parts of Mayo on Sunday, with gusts of up to 126km/h recorded in Belmullet.
Southwest winds will reach gale force 8 or strong gale force 9 as a result.
The warning will last until 6:00pm tomorrow (Wednesday) evening.
It has been advised by Met Éireann that those on the coastline will be at the greatest risk of damage as a result, but for those inland to be cautious as conditions can travel further.
