The R311 road between Claremorris and Hollymount has reopened to traffic today following a fatal road traffic collision yesterday morning.

A male driver in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

The female driver of another car, in her 20s, was taken to Mayo University Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The two car collision occurred at approximately 7:45am.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R331 between Claremorris and Hollymount between 7:30am and 8am are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
