Leaving cert students who don't get enough points for their chosen college courses are being given a new way to secure a third level place.
Higher Education Minister Simon Harris will today unveil a new pathway to degree courses which don't involve CAO points.
Under the new system students can start their degree programme in a college of further education and complete it in a higher education institution.
There will be 23 entry routes to the new courses which include engineering, nursing, business and media.
