A leading charity is calling for the means test for the carer's allowance to be abolished.
In its pre-budget submission, Family Carers Ireland is calling for an overhaul of the allowance.
It also wants the weekly rate to increase to 325 euro per week, up from 236 euro.
Catherine Cox, head of communications and policy at Family Carers Ireland, says health supports also need to be improved.
