
As major retailers once again drop own brand milk prices, a local deputy says farmers should not have to suffer the loss of profits.
Tesco, Supervalu, Aldi and Lidl have all reduced their own brand milk by 10 cent.
Galway Deputy Sean Canney says that while the reduction for the consumer is all good and well, farmers should not have to bear the reduction in cost.
He says a food regulator needs to be introduced sooner rather than later to be able to have transparency when it comes to profits from both retailers, producers and farmers themselves.
