Irish water and Galway County Council have informed the public of a burst water main in the Castlehackett area of Caherlistrane.
This major burst in the large diameter water main has resulted in the closure of the road for most of the day today while repairs are undertaken.
Local diversions are currently in place.
The water supply to surrounding areas will be affected until repairs are completed later this afternoon.
Councillor Andrew Reddington posted the above photo to social media, detailing that there is a sink hole on the road.
