
Mayo Senator Lisa Chambers has this afternoon announced €7.5 million funding for Daisy Lodge in Cong.
This funding comes through the Department of Health and The Shared Island Unit.
The funding will be used to construct Daisy Lodge, a state of the art therapeutic short break centre for children with cancer and their families.
This is the second facility to add the existing Cancer Fund for Children centre in Newcastle, County Down.
Former Irish rugby captain Rory Best completed Rory’s Miles for Mayo a few weeks ago, walking from Dublin to Cong to raise funds for Daisy Lodge, and turning the first sod on site.
