
Fine Gael Councillor Eddie Hoare has been elected to the position of Mayor of Galway the City Council’s Annual General Meeting.
35 year old Eddie is one of the youngest representatives to be selected as first citizen of the city, succeeding party colleague Clodagh Higgins in the position.
Non-party Councillor Donal Lyons has been elected as the deputy mayor.
Councillor Hoare is a former Galway senior footballer, and was first elected in 2019.
He won a Connacht Senior Football Championship with the Tribesmen in 2008 and again in 2016 before stepping away from the panel due to work commitments.
