
The green light for planning has been approved by West Mayo councillors for a new one million euro outdoor facility at Carrowmore Beach, in Louisburgh.
The new facility is one of forty such facilities being rolled out nationally to enhance outdoor amenities along our shores.
Carrowmore will be the first such facility in the West Mayo Municipal District area and a similar facility will follow at Keel, Achill.
The location of the new development at Carrowmore beach has been the subject of some controversy, with many outdoor enthusiasts suggesting that Old Head or Carrowniskey beaches would be more appropriate, however, Westport based councillor Peter Flynn says there are a number of valid reasons why Carrowmore was selected.
