One third of students are facing serious financial problems.

That's according to a new survey by the Higher Education Authority, which says many students are spending more than they earn and are forced to rely on family to bridge the gap.

That's despite nearly two thirds of students having a job.

Rent is the biggest burden - with the average student accommodation cost at € 470 a month.
