The Government is being urged to invest its multi-billion euro surplus in off-shore wind energy.
Yesterday, the Department of Finance forecast a 10 billion euro surplus for this year and an over 16 billion euro surplus for 2024.
Finance Minister Michael McGrath said some of the money will go towards an investment fund to help cover future costs caused by Ireland's ageing population.
But Independent TD for Roscommon - Galway, Denis Naughten, says it should be used for a new designated body to manage wind energy.
