
A local councillor has called on the National Transport Authority to consider allowing smaller villages apply for funding under the active travel scheme.
Independent councillor Patsy O'Brien says there needs to be an even balance between urban and rural communities.
An open letter was written to the NTA by Mayo County Council calling for the inclusion of villages in the scheme, to which they said their mindset was for towns.
