In recent months, local historians have been examining records and searching old maps of Ballina.
The old brick fireplace of what is believed to have been Edward Blewitt’s old cottage has been discovered.
Ernie Caffrey owns the art gallery on Garden Street that skirts the old cottage cartilage.
He is hoping to show it to President Biden if he comes by to see where his great-great-grandfather and family came from.

While in Ballina, Teresa spoke to Joseph Winters of Winters Jewellers in Ballina says there is a great excitement around the town.
Teresa has also been speaking to Tom Fleming who has today been installing signs welcoming President Biden to Ballina.
The team at Easons Ballina are decorating their shop window ahead of the visit of the President.
Next door at Wispy’s discount store, they are also busy putting up the American flags.
