Almost 50 international protection applicants and refugees have taken up residence in Killala town.
Mayo County Council have confirmed to Midwest News that 48 refugees arrived in Killala last Friday, March 31st.
The makeup of the group are predominantly couples, children and some single parents.
Last month, a similar number of international protection applicants and refugees were rehoused in Ballycastle.
Local Fine Gael councillor Jarlath Munnelly has raised concerns about the lack of communication to public representatives and people in the locality that refugees were to be rehomed in the area.
He says that by contacting local people, they could have raised any concerns they had beforehand rather than after those had been rehoused.
Councillor Munnelly also says that such cottages that are being used to house those refugees are holiday homes and aren't suitable for long term accommodation.
He has been speaking to Midwest News Editor Teresa O'Malley....
