Ballina has been selected to host the first ever community Fleadh this summer in conjunction with the Connacht Fleadh competition.
That's according to Director General of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, Dr. Labhras O'Murchu.
The idea of a community Fleadh is to invite other organisations from the community such as sporting organisations and other groups to be a part of the festivities.
Dr O'Murchu says all four provisional Fleadh's submitted their applications and after careful consideration they selected Ballina for the 2023 pilot scheme.
The news comes as Ballina celebrates their 300th year celebrations.
