
A Medical Council fitness to practise inquiry has begun into allegations of professional misconduct and poor professional performance, against an obstetrician and gynaecologist at St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny.
36-year-old Tracey Campbell Fitzpatrick died in hospital shortly after giving birth to her second child on Easter Monday 28 March 2016.
Ms. Campbell Fitzpatrick, was originally from Knock, and had been living in Co Carlow.
At the opening of the hearing today, lawyers for Dr McMurray said he was admitting and accepting that he failed to attend to Ms Campbell Fitzpatrick in a timely manner when complications arose in her case.
According to RTE, the inquiry is scheduled to last four days and is being held in public but remotely, with access for the media and the public who register in advance online with the Council.
