The community of Straide is mourning the loss of a young woman from the area who died suddenly in New York on Thursday last.
Serena Carney of Gurteens, Straide, Foxford had mourned the death of her father Sean, in Straide, just two weeks ago.
Her passing has cast a cloud of deep sadness over the community.
A Gofund Me appeal to repatriate her remains has already reached just over 64,000 euro.

Serena’s remains will be reposing at Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Friday evening between 4 and 7 p.m.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated in St. Peter & Paul’s Church, Straide, at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Interment takes place afterwards in Straide Cemetery.
Predeceased by her parents Sean and Nancy Carney, she is survived by sister Sharon, brothers John, Jason, Jamie, grandmother, aunts and uncles, extended family and friends.
