Houses affected by Pyrite in Sligo are hoping to gain inclusion to the Pyrite redress scheme this year.
That's according to Local councillor, Marie Casserly.
The issue was raised at a recent meeting of Sligo County Council.
16 homeowners have nominated their properties to be further considered for the scheme and test samples have been taken from 5 of those properties which will be sent to the UK for further testing.
The final lab results will then be used as part of the Consultants final report which will be brought before the department.
Councillor Marie Casserly is the Leas-Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council.
She has been giving more details to Midwest Radio's Alannah Nolan about the process....
