A significant price increase on fertiliser, as well as rising costs for energy and animal feed, have put further pressure on farmers.
That's according to the CSO, which has found the input price index rose by over 35 per cent last year compared to 2021.
Output prices for milk and cereal rose by over 40 per cent respectively, while cattle prices rose by just over 17 per cent in that period.
The cost of fertiliser more than doubled, with a 123 per cent increase.
