The Mayo Branch of United Against Racism, a national organisation that promotes inclusion, is holding a solidarity rally in Castlebar tomorrow at lunchtime.
The rally gets underway at the Market Square in the county town at 1pm tomorrow (Sat).
One of the organisers Elena Lydon says the purpose of tomorrow’s gathering is to show public support for the many asylum seeks and refugees that are now living in Mayo and to let them know they are welcome.
She says it’s important in light of recent protests against asylum seekers and refugees being accommodated in various locations across the country that everyone – refugees, asylum seekers and residents of the county all feel comfortable , included and part of the community.
Elena has been giving more details about tomorrow’s rally to Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley
