Details

The death has taken place of Paddy Cosgrove, better known as POC, a former Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council.

Paddy of Cloontakilla, Bangor Erris, passed away yesterday at Mayo University Hospital.

He is survived by his wife Imelda and children.

A teacher by profession, Paddy also served as a councillor on Mayo County council for many years, initially as a Fianna Fail councillor and later as an Independent representative for the Belmullet Electoral area.

He was also a member of many other county and local organisations and served as Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council from 1991 to 1992.
