196 people were arrested for drink and drug driving over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Gardaí also caught over two-and-a-half thousand people speeding.

Between Friday morning and Tuesday morning, one person died on our roads, a man in his 20s in Galway.

A further nine collisions took place that resulted in nine serious and life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí carried out 1,248 checkpoints and 216 motorists were stopped for using their mobile phone.
