Patients presenting at hospital emergency departments across the region today are experiencing delays.

There are 33 patients on trolleys today at University Hospital Galway, the third highest waiting figures in the country.

25 patients are waiting for beds at Sligo University Hospital, 22 at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe while at Mayo University Hospital 5 patients are waiting for a bed.

Nationally today, 489 patients are waiting on trolleys, with the highest figures today at University Hospital Limerick, where 76 patients are waiting for admission.
