Gardai are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a woman in her 80s died in a hit-and-run, while walking at Oranmore, in County Galway yesterday evening.
The pedestrian was hit by a car on the Old Limerick Road, shortly after 5pm - and the driver of the car failed to remain at the scene.
She was taken to University Hospital Galway for treatment but later passed away from her injuries.
A technical examination of the scene was completed last night, but the Old Limerick Road remained closed this morning.
