The head of the HSE says the rising number of covid cases is an early warning signal.
769 new cases were confirmed here last night, which is the highest number since the end of February.
359 people are in hospital with the virus today and it's been stuck at a similar number for the past week.
Across the region there are 12 patients with the virus receiving treatment at Mayo University Hospital, 11 at Sligo Hospital, 5 at the Portiuncula Hospital and 4 at University Hospital Galway.
This includes two on critical care beds in Galway and one apiece in Sligo and the Portiuncula.
Meanwhile, the INMO’s latest trolley watch figures show that there are 19 patients awaiting beds in Sligo, 11 in Mayo, 5 in Galway and 1 at the Portiuncula.
