Details

Funeral arrangements have been confirmed for Canon Michael Joyce, a priest of the Achonry diocese who passed away yesterday evening.

Canon Joyce, originally from Foxford, had lived in Swinford since his retirement as parish priest of Bohola.

He taught for many years in St Patrick's College, Swinford and in St Nathy's College, Ballaghadereen and served as parish priest in Curry, Swinford and Bohola.

Bishop Paul Dempsey has described Canon Michael Joyce as a much loved and respected pastor and priest who will be sadly missed by all with whom he had contact during his many years of faithful ministry.

Bishop Dempsey has extended his sympathy to the Joyce family.

Canon Michael's remains will be removed from Clarkes Funeral Home, Foxford on Thursday at 2pm, arriving at Our Lady Help of Christians Church Swinford for Funeral Mass at 3pm, with burial afterwards in the Church grounds.
