A Mayo Deputy has hit out at the Tanaiste's comments yesterday incorrectly claiming Sinn Féin has no Protestant TDs.

Leo Varadkar has apologised after Sinn Féin TD Violet-Anne Wynne, who is a Protestant, took issue with the remarks.

Erris based Sinn Fein Deputy Rose Conway-Walsh says it is extremely bizarre that somebody would come out with a statement like this.

Deputy Conway-Walsh says it dismisses all the really good work that goes on between republicans and unionist across the board and across communities in the north.
