
The number of patients with Covid-19 in public hospitals has fallen below 600 for the first time since January 1st.
However, latest HSE figures show 10 people in ICU died after contracting the virus - the largest number in a 24-hour period since the start of the pandemic.
It comes as 574 new cases and 56 additional deaths were reported yesterday.
31 of the deaths occurred this month, and one of those who died from the virus yesterday was just 16.

In this region, there were 37 new cases recorded yesterday in Galway with 21 in Mayo.
Figures for the rest of Connacht remain low, with less than 5 cases in Sligo, and none reported in either Roscommon or Leitrim.
The national 14-day incidence rate of the disease has fallen to 231 per 100,000 people.
