Fire crews attended the scene of a blaze which broke out at the Old Cemetery in Castlebar yesterday evening.
The Castlebar Fire-fighting unit was called to the scene and brought the fire under control.
When the unit arrived, firemen discovered that a tree had been set alight.
The fire was quickly extinguished but is understood that damage was caused by the flames and smoke to a gravestone within close proximity.
The incident has been reported to Gardaí in Castlebar.
