Gusts of up to 110 kilometres per hour are expected across the country today, with a status yellow wind warning in place nationwide.
That's set to be upgraded to orange from 11am for Donegal, Mayo and Galway, where coastal flooding is possible.
Motorists are being reminded to give pedestrians and cyclists more space on the roads during the adverse conditions.
