Solicitor William O’Connor, Swinford has been appointed as the Deputy Coroner for the District of Mayo.
William O’Connor is a partner in the firm of P. O’Connor & Son, Solicitors whose great-grandfather, Pat O’Connor, was Coroner from 1917 -1942, whilst his Grandfather, Thomas V. O’Connor was Coroner until his death in 1988.
William’s father, Pat O’ Connor is the current Coroner for the District of Mayo, and he says he is delighted that the tradition of public service by the O’Connor family in Mayo is being continued by William, the fourth generation of lawyers in the family.
Mr O’Connor replaces Paul Cunney, who had acted as Deputy Coroner for some years.
Mr Cunney has moved to practice law in Ballina.
