
Two men have been arrested and more than €122,000 worth of suspected cocaine and cannabis herb seized following a search of a house at Turloughmore, Galway.
Gardai attached to the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit carried out the search at about 5.30 yesterday evening, and seized €28,000 worth of suspected cocaine and €10,000 of suspected cannabis as well as €4,000 in cash, a weighing scales and mixing agent.
One man fled from the house on foot into a nearby field, and was seen discarding items on his way.
Gardai recovered a further €84,000 worth of cocaine in the field and arrested the man who's in his early 30's.
A second man, also in his mid-30's who was in the house at the time, was also arrested and both were detained at the Garda regional headquarters in Galway under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
They've since been charged in connection with the drug seizure, and will appear before Galway District Court this afternoon.
