Cabinet has approved a plan that will allow GPs and pharmacists administer COVID vaccines.
The 91 million euro plan will allow them to give the AstraZeneca vaccine once it's approved by the European Medicines Agency at the end of the month.
Tuam based pharmacist, Darragh O'Loughlin from the Irish Pharmacy Union says the AstraZeneca vaccine has a number of advantages.
It can be stored in normal fridges, transported in standard containers and will be available in large quantities.
