It’s very different but exactly the same – the county longs to secure Sam Maguire on Saturday evening next when Mayo faces Dublin in the All Ireland Football Final despite any pandemic.
There’s great excitement and anticipation throughout the county and Midwest News was out in Breaffy National School, Castlebar yesterday to talk to some of the students and staff in St John’s National School to get their views on the Big Match.
Breaffy, outside Castlebar is the home of a number of the players that can make that happen, and St John’s National School in Breaffy is very proud of its past pupils that will be representing the county in Croke Park.
Life size posters of the Breaffy players now on the Mayo team are on display at the front of the school, together with flags and bunting and inside the celebrations continue, with the team captain Aidan O’Shea’s poster dominating the long school corridor.
James Minogue is a teacher in the school and plays his football with Breaffy. He spoke to Midwest News about the excitement and the atmosphere in the school ahead of the big occasion on Saturday
While four fourth class students gave Midwest News their views on Mayo’s chances.
We’ll have more from Breaffy NS and the build up to the big game on our lunchtime
news tomorrow.
