With eleven new cases of Covid 19 reported yesterday in counties Mayo and Galway, and cases rising nationally, the chief medical officer is 'concerned' the virus is back on an upward trend.
There was one further coronavirus-related death and 429 new cases of the disease reported to the Department of Health in the Republic yesterday .
122 of the cases were in Dublin, 46 in Donegal, 30 in Limerick, 22 in Laois, 20 in Cork and the remaining 189 cases are spread across all other counties.
There were eight new cases in county Sligo and less than five in both counties Roscommon and Leitrim.
The estimated 14-day incidence rate of the disease nationally has risen to 84 per 100,000 - up from a low of 78.
The average number of cases in the past five days has also risen above 300, compared to 288 a week ago.
Professor Emer Shelley, from the Royal College of Physicians, says it's very worrying.
