Details

A public health expert is advising people living abroad not to fly home for Christmas.

456 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in the Republic yesterday along with 13 more deaths.

A technical issue led to a reduced number of cases reported in recent days and this is reflected in the higher number of cases.

There are 197 new infections in Dublin, 37 in Donegal, 33 in Limerick, 21 in Louth and 20 in Kilkenny, with the rest spread across 21 other counties.

There are five new cases in Mayo, less than five in Galway, Sligo, Roscommon and Leitrim.

The 14 day incidence rate of Covid-19 per 100,000 people has risen slightly to 80.9.

There are 232 people with the virus in hospital this morning, up from 230 yesterday.
