Garda checkpoints are in operation across the country since this morning, as new Covid-19 restrictions come into effect.
People are being asked to stay in their county for the next three weeks and work from home where possible under the level 3 rules.
No social or family gatherings should take place but there are exemptions for weddings and funerals, where 25 people can attend.
The Level 3 restrictions will remain in place until midnight on 27 October, at which point the situation will be reviewed by the Government, based on public health advice.
