The Government has clarified that meetings of drug and alcohol support groups can continue to operate with up to 50 people.
There was some concern that meetings - such as those held by Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous were breaching recently introduced regulations which limit indoor events to 6 people.
However, the Minister of State with responsibility for the National Drugs Strategy - Sligo /Leitrim TD Frank Feighan - has welcomed clarification from Government that these groups are not subject to the 6-people limit and can continue to operate - subject to adhering to public health guidelines on physical distancing.
Minister Feighan says groups such as AA, NA and Smart Recovery provide a lifeline for people struggling with addiction..........
