Postponed rather than cancelled, is how the organisers of the annual Wild Atlantic Words Literary Festival in Castlebar are describing the 2020 event.
It was announced on Wednesday that the Festival planned for October is another casualty of the Covid 19 pandemic.
Among the guests that had been lined up for this year’s event were internationally renowned author Sally Rooney, the former President of Ireland Mary McAleese and the former UK Prime Minister David Cameron.
Kathryn Brennan, the festival Chairperson says the committee are determined to run the event as soon as the pandemic situation allows, but regardless the winners of the 2020 Wild Atlantic Words short story competition will be announced on October 10th on the festival’s website.
Kathryn spoke to Midwest News today about why they are determined to run the popular event again.
