
The Government has allocated grant aid of over €1 million euro today for capital works and equipment at the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology.
The funding, which is provided through the Higher Education Authority, is part of a €25 million package for higher education institutes to provide colleges with the flexibility to address small-scale capital investment and equipment, including infrastructure upgrades, ICT and equipment renewal and energy-related upgrades.
GMIT President Dr Orla Flynn has welcomed the announcement by Minister Simon Harris of 1 million , 67 thousand euro, which she says will be allocated towards upgrading and refurbishing facilities across the five campuses, and particularly investing in supports for online teaching and learning.
