The 7.15 am Westport to Dublin train was delayed by three quarters of an hour this morning after an incident at the level crossing in Knockroghery.
Irish Rail says a van and trailer hit the level crossing, taking out one of the gates.
This led to a 44 minute delay on the 7.15 train from Westport to Heuston, and a 10-minute delay to other services.
A spokesperson for Irish Rail told Midwest News that there was no-one injured in the incident.
The driver left the scene and Roscommon Gardai are investigating.
The level crossing gate has since been repaired and all train services are now running on schedule.
