Details

The strongest winds in Mayo and Galway can be expected between 11pm tonight and 3am tomorrow morning, according to Met Eireann.

An Orange wind warning comes into effect for 7 counties including Mayo and Galway from 9pm tonight, as Storm Ellen is set to track over Ireland, bringing severe and potentially damaging winds.

The weather warning for Cork has been upgraded to a status red warning from 9pm to midnight, while the orange wind warning for Mayo, Galway and counties in Munster will come into effect from 9pm tonight until 6am tomorrow morning.

The rest of the country is under a status yellow wind warning.

Met Eireann forecaster Gerry Murphy says gusts could reach 125 km an hour in the West overnight.....
