Gardaí investigating the theft and assault that occurred at an Off Licence premises in Ballyhaunis on Thursday last have arrested two men.
A search warrant was executed on Saturday morning and two men, aged 23 years and 20 years, were arrested in connection with the incident and taken to Castlebar Garda Station where they were detained under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act.
A number of items sought on the warrant were also recovered during the search.
The 20 year old man has since been released without charge and a file is to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The second man, was charged in relation to the incident and appeared before a special sitting of Carrick on Shannon District Court on Saturday evening.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear again before Castlebar District Court on Wednesday next and investigations ongoing.
