A Castlebar councillor is calling on the government to look at the lockdown of municipal district areas rather than entire counties when significant Covid 19 outbreaks occur.
Castlebar based Fine Gael councillor Cyril Burke believes this would have a less devastating impact on a county’s economy and could be just as effective in controlling the spread of the virus.
He has highlighted this view to Fine Gael deputies in the county over the weekend.
Speaking to Midwest News today councillor Burke says lessons have been learned from the lockdown still in place across the three counties of Laois, Offally and Kildare.
